Engr. Oyewole Lateef Oyewunmi is a native of Abeokuta in Ogun State, Nigeria. He completed his secondary and higher school certificates at Mayflower School Ikenne and Federal Government College Odogbolu in 1975 and 1977 respectively. He is a graduate of Civil Engineering from the University of Lagos, a Master of Science and Diploma from Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine London, and a Postgraduate Diploma course in Computer Science at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. He is a recipient of many scholarships and awards among which are; Friends of Mayflower Scholarship, Federal Government Scholarship, European Economic Community Fellowship, and Rees Jeffrey’s Road fund fellow.

He has attended many short courses at home and abroad which include, Financial Management and Disbursement facilitated by the World Bank held at Lagos Business School, Procurement of Consulting Services at National Centre for Economic Management and Administration (NCEMA) Ibadan, Assuring the Quality of World Bank Operations in Africa Workshop at Accra, Ghana, Leadership and Project Team Management training held in Montreal Canada facilitated by SETYM International, Monitoring and Evaluation Design and Implementation held at Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, facilitated by Setym International, Senior Road Executives Programme 2010 on Road Sector Reforms at University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, Advance structural design methods, to mention but a few.

He started his working career as an Engineer grade Two (grade level 8) with Ogun State Ministry of Works and Transport in September 1982 and worked conscientiously to the elevated grade of substantive Director of Highways Grade Level 17 in July 2011. He was also a Project Coordinator of Ogun State Community Based and Urban Development Project (World Bank Assisted Project) spanning for seven years. On September 30th, 2013, he was appointed as a Permanent Secretary in the Ogun State Civil Service. He retired as Permanent Secretary Ministry of Housing on May 26th, 2015.

Lion Oyewunmi is a registered engineer with the Council for Regulation of Engineering Practice in Nigeria (COREN) and Fellow Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), Corporate Member of Nigerian Institution of Structural Engineers. He has served and is still serving the Nigerian Society of Engineers in many capacities some of which are; Past Chairman Abeokuta Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and National Council member of the society for four years.

Lion Oyewunmi is a member of the Association of Lions Clubs International (Non-Governmental Organization) with the sole aim of giving useful service to the less privileged in our society, meeting humanitarian needs, encouraging peace, and promoting international understanding without expecting any financial reward. He has served in many capacities including Club President, Zone Chairman, Region Chairman, Chairman of Worldwide Lions Induction Day, Chairman of National Convention, Past District Governor (PDG), Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) District Coordinator, LCIF Multiple District Coordinator, Six Star Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, a member of the Council of Governors for the Multiple District 404 Nigeria and member of the Africa Lions Secretariat ad-hoc committee. He is presently serving as the Lions Clubs International Foundation Constitutional Area 8B Leader, comprising of Districts in Nigeria and Ghana. He has received many awards and recognitions from both the International and the District Offices for meritorious Service to Humanity.

Engr. Oyewunmi believes that the race for excellence has no finishing line, married and blessed with children.
