HUNGER RELIEF PROJECT FOR ENVIRONMENTAL WORKERS By Calabar Paradise Lions Club

On Friday, the 12th of December 2025, members of Calabar Paradise Lions Club carried out a hunger relief intervention for Environmental Workers in Calabar Metropolis. The project was initiated to support and appreciate the tireless efforts of these workers whose services contribute significantly to community hygiene, sanitation, and environmental sustainability.

Environmental sanitation workers are often unseen heroes. They brave harsh weather conditions and demanding tasks to protect public health and preserve our environment. Recognizing their invaluable contribution, the Calabar Paradise Lions Club set out at about 5.30am to not only say thank you, but to act meaningfully in the yuletide season

Objectives
1. To alleviate hunger among environmental workers through the distribution of essential food baskets.
2. To provide immediate financial support through cash donations for personal or household needs.
3. To enhance worker safety and visibility during operations by issuing high-quality reflective work vests.
4. To recognize and encourage the continued dedication and commitment of environmental workers.

The project brought smiles, encouragement, and renewed morale to the beneficiaries. Beyond the material support, it sent a powerful message of dignity, recognition, and solidarity: that their work matter and their service to humanity is deeply valued.

This initiative also reinforces the Lions Club’s commitment to:
Hunger relief
Community health and safety
Environmental sustainability
Compassionate service leadership & Appreciation

The project was executed under the leadership of Lion Amb. Winifred Nso, Club President for the 2025/2026 Lions Service Year, with the dedication and coordination of Lion Dr. Miriam Egere, Service Chairperson, alongside committed club members who gave their time and resources to make the project a success.

The Hunger Relief Project for Environmental Workers stands as another testament to the Calabar Paradise Lions Club’s unwavering commitment to service above self. As Lions, we remain steadfast in our mission to touch lives, uplift communities, and create lasting impact, one act of kindness at a time.
